Practice Cakes

I've been making practice cakes & cup cakes for the last few weeks.

The first one is a 3-layer Chocolate WASC cake that I made for Nick's birthday. Sweetened Cream filling and Chocolate Buttercream(BC) icing. I used the Frozen Buttercream Transfer technique for the logo (Forum Snowboards).

This is my first-ever fondant covered cake. I used a 5" cake that I filled with Vanilla BC. I also used the VBC under the fondant. Marshmallow Fondant turned out great...was very easy to make and cut. Wish my cookie dough came out that good.

Next, I made WASC mini cupcakes topped with Vanilla Buttercream frosting for an employee's going away/client appreciation event. They were very well received!

This last one is referred to as a "Belly" or "Bump" cake. My friend asked me to make a cake for a baby shower she's hosting and I wanted to practice first. I had never worked with a fondant covered, shaped cake before and also wanted to play around with coloring fondant. For a practice cake, it doesn't look half bad!

This is the start of my dessert/cake/cupcake business/hobby/obsession blog! Is that too much for an opening sentence??
